Hello Naptimers!
Baby Birdie went down early today and is already stirring, but I wanted to quickly share this piece of joy found out in the wilds of the real world.
I took my three young kids (and my two young nieces!) on a trip to the local zoo last week. While we were suppressing our internal “fight or flight” signals while starring at 8-foot-tall Russian Grizzly Bears, my eyes happened to flash upon this park bench, nestled in a dark corner of a faux cave.
Loving you like a bear hug.
Ah, to be loved like that. To have it not only remembered but commemorated. I don’t know who Calvin Emerson was but something about this simple phrase made me tear up then… and tear up again now just thinking about it.
To be loved like a bear hug. It’s all we can ever hope for in this life.
I am a sucker for park bench plaques and even wrote one for my mother… I’ll write more on that later. But for now, if you’re curious, here is Calvin Emerson’s obituary from the people who loved him with the width and breadth of truly terrifying bears.
Have you ever seen a truly heart-achingly wonderful bench plaque before? There are literally DOZENS in NYC’s Central Park. I’d love to hear from you!
Until next time Naptimers! (See, I told you these posts would be brief!)
